Morning Update Tuesday March 5, 2013 - Mom Teases Us in the Snow

Good Morning, MN Bound Eagle Watchers!

Mom came to the nest at dusk last night and settled in for a long wait.

The chatters became a little excited that this might be the time for the first egg of the year! Things were hopping in the SS all evening as we waited to see what would happen. Alas, it seemed that Mom was just trying to keep the nest dry and free of snow as the storm went on. At 11:20pm she gave up and left the nest to go hang out with Dad.

And so we begin another day of Eggwatch!

They came back to the nest several times in the morning trying to do snow removal and bringing in a small amount of grass. Some affectionate play was seen between them as they worked on the nest. We all hope they can get the nest ready in time for the first lay.

Here is 989Razzles video of some of the mornings doin’s.

The cam and power systems held up well in the storm and the cam stayed up all night. There were a couple of short times when the cam went out this morning but that may have been problems with the internet instead of the cam itself. It came back up quickly each time. Thanks, BBC, for keeping us up and running!

That’s all for now and I’ll be back in the evening with another update.

Happy Eagle viewing and we’ll see you on the nest!
